Moptil is honoured to establish a five-member Advisory Board, staffed by accomplished professionals and renowned academics from the areas of Tourism, Education and the Creative Industries. The purpose of this Board is to reinforce Moptil’s knowledge, understanding and strategic thinking in the above areas, by leveraging the experience and expertise of its members.

Tasos Flambouras has worked in interactive entertainment for over 20 years. He’s held senior positions in corporations such as Microsoft and Intralot, he has also been an entrepreneur founding Aventurine SA and developing 3 Massive Multiplayer games and gaming platforms over 12 years. He is a founding member of the Gaming Innovation and Creative Content Cluster in Greece, the Chairman of the Greek-Korean Association and the Hellenic Game Developer Association.

He holds an MSc in Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Ms. Sophia Kounenaki- Efraimoglou

Ms. Sophia Kounenaki- Efraimoglou has played an important role in the management of companies in the sectors of Communication, Trade, Industry and Portfolio Management as president and CEO, among which the telecommunication company Vivodi Telecom and Fortius Finance S.A., which she founded. Ms Kounenaki-Efraimoglou has also been the initiator and President of the Hellenic Corporate Governance Council, a joint initiative of ATHEX GROUP and SEV – Hellenic Federation of Enterprises.
She is President and Managing Director of Ardittos S.A and Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Stock Exchange Group (ATHEX GROUP). She is an elected Member of the Board of Directors of the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry. She is also Member of the General Council of the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises (SEV). She is President of the Centre of Female Entrepreneurship at the Athens Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Ms Sophia Kounenaki-Eraimoglou is Treasurer of the Board of ALBA Business School and Member of the Business Advisory Council of the MBA International Program at the Athens University of Economics and Business. With genuine interest in Hellenic culture and as Executive Vice President of the Foundation of the Hellenic World and Head of Cultural Center “HELLENIC COSMOS”, Ms Sophia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou plays an important role in the preservation and dissemination of our cultural heritage. She is also Member of the Board at the Peloponnese Folklore Foundation Museum.
She holds Bachelor and Master Degrees in Philosophy, Psychology, Business Administration and Computer Programming and is fluent in English, French and Italian. Ms Sophia Kounenaki-Efraimoglou is married to Mr. Dimitris L. Efraimoglou and is mother of three children.

Michael Mavropoulos

Mr. Michael Mavropoulos is the owner and CEO of the newly founded company IV Hellas which is operating in the field of Tourism. Prior to establishing his own business, he enjoyed a long and successful career as senior executive in distinguished multinational corporations. His most recent position was Regional Director of TUI Destination Experiences, a position held since April 2015, with responsibility for 13 countries including Greece, Cyprus, Malta, Turkey, Italy, Croatia, Bulgaria, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Oman, Israel as well as Iceland and Lapland. He started his career in 1988 at the hotel group Hilton, and held the position of Sales Manager in Athens and later in the United Arab Emirates. In 1996 he joined UPS in the Transportation and Logistics sector, where he held various international leadership positions in Saudi Arabia, Belgium, USA and lately in Greece from the position of Managing Director for Greece and Balkans. He returned to the Tourism sector, taking up the reins of TUI Hellas in June 2012. Since then, he is actively participating in industry initiatives to promote Greek Tourism and is a board member of the Greek Tourism Confederation and Marketing Greece. He holds a degree in Tourism Business Administration and an MBA from the University οf Louisville, USA.

Prof. Panos Valavanis

 

Classical Archaeology
National & Kapod. University of Athens

 

Mr. Panagiotis Valavanis is Professor Emeritus of the Department of History and Archaeology at the University of Athens. Studied Classical Archaeology at the universities of Athens and Würzburg, and participated in numerous excavations and publications of the finds. Author of 13 books and many articles, the majority dealing with ancient Greek pottery and iconography, the architecture and topography of Athens, ancient athletics, as well as ancient Greek technology. He has participated in numerous Greek and international conferences, and has lectured at universities and museums in Europe, America and the Far East. He is also the author (alone or in collaboration) of several archaeological guidebooks for the general public, with particular emphasis on archaeological books for schoolchildren, most of which have been translated into foreign languages. He has also been member of various scientific organizing committees for the organization of  exhibitions and conferences, participated in the department’s administrative hierarchy and managerial positions at the University of Athens. Finally, he has been involved with other Greek and foreign colleagues in excavations, various research programs, as well as various other archaeological and educational activities.

Assistant Prof. Maria Roussou

 

Interactive Systems
National & Kapod. University of Athens

 

Dr Maria Roussou is Assistant Professor of Interactive Systems at the Department of Informatics and Telecommunications of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. From 2003 to 2016 she was co-founder and co-director of the company makebelieve design & consulting (makebelieve.gr), designing and developing digital applications for museums and archaeological sites. Previously, she was in charge of the Virtual Reality department of the Foundation of the Hellenic World (1998-2003). She has also worked with the Department of New Media Initiatives of the contemporary art museum “Walker Art Center” as well as a consultant on interactive technologies for the wider culture and education field. She has been (since 2000) involved in EU research projects in the field of culture and educational technology, and is a regular evaluator of similar proposals. She holds a doctorate in Computer Science from the University of London (UCL), in Virtual Reality and Human-Computer Interaction, a Master’s Degree in Fine Arts (MFA) in Electronic Visualization from the School of Fine Arts of the University of Illinois at Chicago, a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the same University, and a degree in Applied Informatics from the Athens University of Economics and Business.
